About Jess
I'm a postgraduate Film and Television student at the University of Warwick who has previously earned a first class honours degree in English Literature and Creative Writing. I have always been fascinated by cultural history but didn't discover classic cinema until Summer 2020 - my only encounters before that were with The Wizard of Oz (1939) and Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines (1965), two of my parents' favourite films! Since I first saw It in lockdown (the silent romantic comedy, not the killer clown movie) I've been hooked on Old Hollywood ever since.

I'm also an aspiring academic researcher. Since December 2022, I've been investigating the life and career of underappreciated actress Shirley O'Hara, who began appearing in American films at only fifteen years old. I never imagined that this would lead to me teaching her family about their grandmother's past! The talent and hard work of performers like Shirley ought to be celebrated just as much as the stars. Ultimately, I hope that this website helps me achieve my dream of becoming a published author in order to share their stories with a wider audience!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog. I hope you enjoy Saturday Morning at the Movies!
